April Picture Book Club REPLAY
The Little Wooden Robot and the Log Princess" by Tom Gould
You need to be a paid subscriber to attend or watch the replay Picture Book Club. You can join for £4.50 per month, or £45 per year. That is like having one fancy coffee per month, and for that, as well as access to Art Club, you can come to my Art Club, and get access to my full back catalogue of videos!
Hello to you all,
How are you? It’s a grey day with a bitingly cold wind here in Cambridge. We walked into town earlier to stretch the legs, and it was just too cold. So, I am happy to be back at home, in my little studio. I’m about to do some writing for new picture book ideas - I’m really determined to work on my writing skills, and as you know, one of my big goals is to publish one of my own author/illustrator books. This is part of the reason I love Picture Book Club - it’s so interesting to analyse a new book every month, and I get a ton out of it. Speaking of which… (see what I did there?!)
I am coming to you with this month’s Picture Book Club REPLAY. This month we did "The Little Wooden Robot and the Log Princess" by Tom Gould. I really enjoyed our chat this month, and (spoiler alert) I loved the book!
You can get the book here, which is my own affiliate Bookshop.org link, where I have also put links to my own books as well. I think I get a tiny affiliate amount of money every time you purchase a book from there
Here are some questions to think about, if you want, before watching the replay. I used some of them as prompts during the session:
How does the use of color contribute to the mood and atmosphere of the book?
How does the book's design impact the storytelling, pacing, and rhythm?
How effective is the use of page turns in the book
