Hello! I’m coming to you with the replay of October Art Club - although my intention was to paint sunflowers, I discovered I seem to have missed the window to get them in our local Co-op. Hopefully I will find some in a bigger shop, or florist, as I would like to paint some to mark the publication of Dear Vincent. Anyhow, I ended up setting up an impromtu still life with the ceramic Staffordshire dogs I bought recently, and a bunch of flowers we had in the house. I discovered that I much prefer painting ceramics to flowers - I just tend to get a it bored painting flowers - too many fiddly details. But I still have the ambition to paint something as beautiful as this painting of flowers by Christopher Wood…
This Art Club I wanted to try out using Pan Pastels, specifically to add tone, I fond it really helps to set an intention or problem you want to figure out in a free, intuitive session like this. Here is where I got to by the end of the session.
And I was enjoying myself so much, I came back to it after lunch, and worked on it some more…
I am going to come back to it today and finish off a few bits, but Art Club is always such a good reminder for me how great it is to play without worrying about outcome. I talk more about that as I work in the video, and as with all Art Clubs, we start with a 10 min or so warm up, which is what inspired me to work in this limited palette!
Ok, on with the replay! I hope you enjoy :)
