Creative Reset - Week 3
Make - turning it all into realistic, fun and creative goals!
Hello again! I hope you enjoyed week 2 of our Creative Reset! I can’t believe we’re already in week 3. For those of you for whom the beginning of the year drags, this can only be good news! I personally have a love/hate relationship with this season. I enjoy the hibernation of it - especially on days like today, when it is what can best be described as damp. Yes, it’s raining, but it’s wet rain - the kind that if you pop to the shops, you will get soaked. It’s not heavy, but it’s persistent, swollen, unrelenting! Anyway, I looked out just know and had a moment of appreciation that I can stay in all day if I want to! But I also begin to long for the relaxed feeling warm weather gives me. There’s something about being outside when it’s warm (not boiling!), that relaxes my body. Note to self: maybe a hot bath is needed.
Anyway, that was a bit of a ramble, eh? On with the show.

Week 3 - Make
I just want to start by making the point that it’s unavoidable to make this post without saying “goal” a lot! I know that can be a contentious word, but please translate it into whatever word feels most appealing to you (I also like the word intention, which can feel a bit gentler). The point is, you don’t want it to feel too bossy - and immediately want to rebel - or get too stressed out by it.
I like the metaphor of a wind-up toy. By setting an “intention” (or goal) you are pointing your wind-up toy in the right direction. Invariably, you will wobble off course throughout the year, but that’s why I like the word “goal” because I see it as a point on the horizon to point myself towards. That way I can pick up my metaphorical wind-up toy throughout the year and point it in the right direction again. Does that all make sense? OK, let’s begin!
This week we will be Making! I have designed a worksheet that helps you put all of your reflections - gathering and filtering into some practical, realistic goals for the year. I love this system, as it helps you make goal(s), but in a way that breaks it down and makes it realistic. I’ve made a video to accompany it, which is a little explainer about the 3 Rocks goal-setting system that I like to use. I’m quite proud of the video because I drew pictures and recorded a little narration for it! Get me!
