Hello!
I’m just at the end of two intensive days of marking on the MA - so I am rather shattered, and I think it was a bit optimistic of me to think I would get much done today, so I am going to make this a short one and I’ll let the sketches do the talking.
I was asked to send some first thoughts and ideas for the book cover and slipcase fairly early on in the process. As I have said for the last few days, I like to brainstorm at first, so here I was playing around with various ideas. I didn’t realise at this stage that Folio books don’t have the title on the cover, just on the spine, so lots of these weren’t suitable, but I think it was useful early on to play around with lots of options, so I can just empty my head of all my ideas, and see how they look on paper.
I am officially on holiday from tomorrow, although I will be fitting in some painting on my current project and doing more marking, in betwixt the Christmas relaxation and merriment. Anyhow, I will have more time over the next few days to dig around in my folders and show you some more of the process behind the book, including painting experiments with snow and night skies!
Until tomorrow!
Ella xx
