Hello to you all!
Happy October to you - how was your September?
I feel like September was a bit of a blur. Our son started 6th form college, which feels totally surreal - how do we have a son at college? I started teaching again on the MA, which is always inspiring, intense and a real privilege. I also finished work on my second illustrated children’s book, and have been looking at proofs of it for comment and approval. It feels very surreal to be the one receiving the proofs, rather than sending them, as in my previous life as a children’s book designer and art director, I was always the one sending proofs to illustrators. PLUS, I have been in preparation mode for my first-ever illustrated children’s book being published! You might have seen in my last post, it publishes on the 10th October (eep!) and I have been emailing back and forth with the publisher talking about the launch party (which is going to be in November), and various different discussions about how the launch will go. It all feels like a crazy, surreal, exciting, and a teensy bit overwhelming time!
October looks set to be an equally big month, which is why I need this month’s Motivation Monthly more than ever! I am really looking forward to a chance to sit back, take a breath and spend some time reflecting on the last month and looking ahead to the rest of the month.
What is Motivation Monthly I hear you ask?
I don’t know about you, but I love a chance to set goals and dream up new ideas and exciting plans. I also think it is really helpful to take time to reflect on what I have done, and not always be in “go” mode. Although I am a creative, messy, often chaotic artist, in a slightly out-of-character way, I also love writing a list and checking things off.
I have designed Motivation Monthly to help you carve out some time to nurture and tend to your creative self. It’s an hour-long session on Zoom - we will set intentions, brainstorm ideas, set goals, and also give ourselves a good old pat on the back with a ta-da list too!
I am attaching a worksheet to use on the night (for subscribers below) for those who fancy it, but if you want you could go rogue and do your own thing. Or maybe you just want come along and paint while we write lists? All welcome! I hope you will finish the hour feeling refreshed and clearer whatever you do!
Here are all the details:
