Hello! This started as a studio video, but as I began to talk about what I was up to, it felt like it neatly summarised my process and set-up for how I work, so I decided to keep it a nice, fairly short (for me! - just 18 mins) video where I talk you through the things I do to set myself up best for painting artwork. I give a caveat in the video, and so I will here too, that this doesn’t show how I paint, it shows all the things I do to set things up so the painting process goes as smoothly as possible. So you could call it a process video for my painting set-up I guess.
In this video you get a sneak peek at some of the artwork from my new book, Dear Vincent, which I will be talking more about in the next few months. Publication day is around the corner now - the end of August. Very exciting! Here’s the cover, photographed a few days ago in my studio. It has a dust jacket and everything - so exciting!
In this video I show the artwork for one of the spreads and the sketch for that spread and talk about how I go from sketch to colour artwork. I have a very specific way I like to work, I hope you will find it useful for you. There’s also a short meander about bookfairs and the process behind sending a book to print.
Ok, so, without further ado, here is the video. It’s for paid subscribers only. If you would like to watch, I’d love for you to upgrade to paid. It costs the same as a fancy coffee to not only get access to all my new paid posts, but the whole back catalogue too, of which there are LOADS. All my old Art Club and Picture Book Club archive, but also loads of behind-the-scenes process videos too!
