Hello! I am coming to you with the replay of this month’s Picture Book Club, which was Madeline, by Ludwig Bemelmans. As always, I found it a fascinating discussion and got loads of unexpected insights about the book. What a lovely thing it is to do to indulge in (just over) an hour of the intricacies and details of picture books, and this is such a classic, it was such a pleasure to do.
The replay is below for paid subscribers. This creative space that I call Gather • Filter • Make helps support me in so many ways. It means I have space to continue making personal work and personal creative development, It supports my work as a published illustrator (I can’t live on the advance payments alone) and helps fuel this Substack, so if you want to see more, I would love it if you would consider becoming a paid subscriber. I am offering 20% off for a whole year until the end of January. I won’t do any more offers for a while after this, so if you are considering upgrading, now is an ideal time. And it means you can join me right at the beginning of a fresh new year, which is always nice isn’t it?
