Hello to you all, I am coming to you with this month’s Picture Book Club REPLAY.
This month we did Mighty Min, which is Mel’s debut picture book. Mel is an alumni of the MA in Children’s Book Illustration at the Cambridge School of Art that I did, graduating in 2014. Mel has illustrated more than ten picture books, three of which she wrote. As well as picture books, she illustrates and designs book covers for readers of all ages. You can see her portfolio here - so many beautiful books!!
Here is an interview where Mel talks about her work in general, and here’s an interview where she talks about Mighty Min in particular.
You can get the book here, which is my own affiliate Bookshop.org link, where I have also put links to my own books as well. I think I get a tiny affiliate amount of money every time you purchase a book from there.

Here are some questions to think about before attending, and I will use these as prompts during the session:
How does Melissa use colour to show emotion, mood and atmosphere?
Melissa has a strong sense of design. How does this affect the storytelling, pacing and rhythm of the book?
