Hello! And Happy New Year!
First of all, welcome to all my new subscribers, I’m so honoured to have you here - truly!
I am coming to you today with a Q&A video answering the questions you sent to me about the making of my first book, The Night Befoe Christmas. I want to start with some honesty - I wrote a bit of a manifesto about keeping this an authentic and honest space, and I am honouring that right now! After I recorded this video, I got super anxious about how messy and meandering my answers were! Yet again, I found myself wishing I was a more structured and linear person. But I’m not!! And I most likely never will be. I am trying my best not to waste any more time in my life trying to be someone I’m not. So here it is. It is (nearly) one and a half hours long, and it is meandering. But is also honest - I hope you enjoy.
If it brings up any more questions, let me know. I would love to either make another video or a written post (with pictures) talking more about the process of making the book. I love nothing more than getting into the nitty gritty of making, and I want to do more posts like that this year. I was reading the fabulous Lizzy Stewart’s latest post where she’s dissecting the little choices and workings-out you make when working on a book, and it reminded me that all the obsessive workings out I make (in paint or in sketches), that often lead to blind alleys and dead-ends are a completely normal part of the process.
So, without further ado, here is the video. It is for paid subscribers only. You can become a member for £4.50 a month or £45 per year, and that gets you access to all my back catalogue of process and sketchbook videos, live meet-up replays etc, as well as access to my monthly live meet-ups (Art Play Date and Picture Book Club).
