I hope you are all doing well!

First of all - just to say, I will be taking a break from any more live sessions until the new year. I will be back with a few more posts however, before the end of the year - I am hoping to record a video with a studio/life update, and I have a list of Christmas books from the Christmas party I want to share.

Anyway, onto this post…

If you have been following me for a while you may know I used to have a Patreon account. I started it in the summer of 2020 - I was just about to start the second year of my MA (in Children’s Book Illustration, at Cambridge School of Art) and although the it was a hugely creative experience, I must have needed an extra creative outlet for the energy starting it had churned up! After discovering Substack last year, I started posting both here with paid posts and on my Patreon, and a few months ago (was it October?) I decided I would take the plunge and go full time on here - I wrote about it in this post.

Soooo, all that to say, I am in the process of trying to move (the good bits) of my Patreon archive over here. I have been adding the videos sporadically so far, but I think what I’ll do is add them in batches, like this post.

Today I am adding all of the sketchbook videos! There are 14 in total, dating from September 2020! You might want to bookmark this post if you like looking through sketchbooks.

A couple of notes:

• The early ones were made when I was still getting to grips with making videos, so they might be a bit wobbly and dark (I haven’t watched them - cringe!)

• I have a tendency to be a bit self-critical when looking back at old work, so there may will definitely be a few “this is terrible/awful/crap” bits. I talk about my self-doubt in the videos, and I hope you may find that interesting in itself.
