I just wanted to start this post with a little reminder that I am doing daily co-working in my new Accountability Club! Read all about it here but the headline is that we meet for an hour every day between 9.30 - 10.30am to co-work quietly together. Use it to work on new ideas, play around and make some daily art, or simply tick emails off the list, it’s up to you. It’s been brilliant so far, and I’ve already made a ton of new creative work!

Hello!

I’m coming to you today with an Art Club bundle! I realised that I hadn’t posted the first June Art Club where we painted more self-portraits (hooray for self-portraits - it’s been fun doing those together!) and so I thought I might as well post the two together as a bundle. I could do this every week, what do you think?

Side note: I’ve been finding myself worrying about the number of posts I send, and trying to be as streamlined as possible. I’d love to know your thoughts on this - do you mind this sort of thing? I actually made a whole post explaining how you can turn off email notifications, plus a few other nerdy Substack customisation tips, so I can stop worrying about this. But I’d love to know your thoughts, please let me know 😊

On with the replays:

  • May Art Club 1: Self-portraits again!

I really enjoyed our session last time, so I was pleased to put in another one. I tried to focus less on the wrinkles this time. Although I think this one is probably a better likeness of me, I prefer it less to the first wrinkly one. But I am really enjoying getting back to some self-portrait painting; it makes me feel like a real artist and it feels fun to tackle something a bit different. I suggested at the end maybe we could try full body ones another time, what do you think?

My portrait from this week.
  • May Art Club 2: Ceramic Dogs and Wild Flowers
I ran out and cut some wildflowers to paint just before we began, and I felt a bit like I got a bit distracted by them in the end, and the poor old dogs got a bit forgotten! But then again, I’ve been trying to tackle flowers for a while, and I felt that these were showing some progress from my earlier efforts, which feels good.

I hope you enjoy both these replays. Let me know how you get on in the comments, and here’s a chat thread to post what you make and chat self-portraits and ceramic dogs!

Until next time,

Ella xx
