Upcoming Dates with all the details you need to know

Accountability Club is a daily co-working space designed to support sustained creative practice. Join me most weekdays (9.30–10.30am UK time) for a live Zoom session where we show-up together and work quietly alongside one another.

These sessions are about creating space for the “engine room” work of creativity: returning to neglected projects, exploring ideas, and building momentum through regular practice. There’s no pressure to perform, just a chance to work creatively together for an hour (or catch up on admin!) and the encouragement that comes from working together.

I wrote a long post about why I started it - you can read it here.

Every weekday, 9.30–10.30am (UK time) unless crossed out below. Please check the calendar page for any dates that change.

  • w/c March 2: mon, tues, wed, thurs, fri

  • w/c March 9: mon, tues, wed, thurs, fri

  • w/c March 16: mon, tues, wed, thurs, fri

  • w/c March 23: mon, tues, wed, thurs, fri

Art Club is a fun, relaxed and informal space for making and exploring together. Each session is designed as a moment to step away from pressure or perfection and allow lots of space for happy accidents through play, mark-making, and intuitive flow. We work alongside each other in real-time, sharing prompts, experiments and reflections, with the focus on showing up rather than producing finished work. All Art Clubs are available as replays, and each new session adds to the back catalogue to watch and play along with.

  • Tuesday March 10, live on Zoom, 12.30–1.30pm

  • Tuesday March 17, live on Zoom, 12.30–1.30pm

I’m moving Art Club on by a week this month, as it’s been a busy end Feb/beginning of March, and I need a chance to catch up, but also, I’m having a think about some new ideas for things to draw, so watch this space!

Picture Book Club

Picture Book Club is an online book club to explore children’s books together. We look closely at illustration, storytelling, publishing and everything in-between; conversations often meander wonderfully, and it’s always the highlight of my month! It’s part book discussion, part creative conversation, and always shaped by the group. One of my favourite things on the MA was when we looked at Picture Books together and analysed them, so I am thrilled to run this on my Substack. I announce the book at the beginning of the month along with some questions for you to consider, and then the live Zoom happens the end of the month to chat all about it! It is available as a replay afterwards for those who can’t make it.

  • Thursday 26 March, live on Zoom, 8–9pm

This month I thought it was time for another classic! have chosen John Burningham’s Mr Gumpy’s Outing. I’m not as familiar as I should be with John Burningham, so I think it’s high time I did - and I’m loooking forward to hearing all your thoughts aand memories of it!

Check out friends of Gather, Filter, Make Helen Hancocks at her bookshop Shelf Editions or Katie Clapham at her bookshop Storytellers Inc. for stock.

Looking forward to a fun March!

Ella xx

This Substack is now a Bestseller, something that has only been possible because of the readers who continue to show up and support it. Paid subscriptions don’t just unlock extra posts, they help sustain this shared creative space and make Picture Book Club, Art Club, Accountability Club and future projects possible (I have lots of plans!). Becoming a paid subscriber is a simple way to help keep it going.

PS: If you’ve been reading for a while and meaning to support the Substack, maybe today is the day? It would be lovely to have you!
