Hello! This week I am coming to you with a process video1 that will hopefully bring you a bit of inspiration, a peek at me facing a fear, as well as some lovely Cambridge river vibes!

I wrote in a recent post about ambitions that I brought back with me from holiday. And a big scary one is making original art to sell!

It feels like a big grown-up thing to do, and I feel very intimidated by the idea. But in the past, I know that I tend to underestimate my ability to do things, and I have learned to just do them anyway, and push past my fear. The results are normally much less disastrous than I invented in my head! A friend said to me recently when I was debating whether to enter a prize that if I don’t enter, I am saying no to myself. Let them say no she said. So wise!

So for my process video this month, rather than just filming myself painting in a sketchbook, as I normally would; when I packed my things, I packed some nice paper, instead of a sketchbook, and made a piece of original art! And actually, it wasn’t as intimidating as I feared. I made a piece that I enjoyed making - this is a really important ingredient to making a successful piece of art for me - and I was pleased with the results too; AND I tried something I was scared to do. Triple win!

I take you through the whole thing in the video, and I talk more in depth about it all.

And if you are a paid subscriber, you will get a private link to purchase the piece of art before I put it up for sale publicly.
